The measurement of roughness parameters (Ra, Rz, Rt etc) is a critical information for evaluation of the processing methods and for the durability of the product.
If roughnes parameters are known, then the processing methods can be optimized and the product can have longer life.
The roughness gauges have a stylus tip, attached to an arm. During the measurement, the arm moves and as a result the tip records the irregularities of the surface (roughness).
